Let’s eat in peace!

Hi!

I hate to complain..

The world and it’s people are beautiful..

But when I go out to enjoy a meal with others, I go out to

1) Enjoy the food.

2) Enjoy the company and conversations of the people around me.

That’s it!

Increasingly, restaurants that were primary devoted to providing food and a place for friendship and conversation have turned into a media big screen theaters.  We are overly consumed with media devices all day and we can’t escape them even in restaurants anymore.

I often choose restaurants now if my experience of dining and conversations will not distracted by big screen TV or other media devices and I run into others who share similar concerns. To help restaurant owners know media free restaurants are desirable for many people, this blog and website has been created.  It offers some solutions for consumers to leave a message on the table of their Media Free Dining experiences (or lack of) and ways for restaurant owners to proudly show they offer media free dining experiences.

Feel free to add your thoughts and ideas to the blog by pressing the comments button.

Happy, peaceful dining with great company and conversations..

Update, December 24 2013

On every Christmas eve for a few years now, we have made a tradition of going to the beach and having early dinner or lunch at this pizza place and store in Pescadero, California.

This year we decided to stop in for lunch and the food was excellent and service was niceas always.  But this year, the seating directly faced a big screen TV that was showing a new show called Caught On Camera!  This show was sadly showing some tragic moments caught on video and was now displaying it on big screen in front of us as we tried to ignore  the screen. Our whole family agreed this was changing our dinning experience and there little we could do about it.  If only I had one of my Media Free dining cards I could have left one behind.

Print out your Media free dining cards before you go out for dinner or a meal.  You can probably leave one or the other Media Free Dinning card at almost every food provider.

Update August 2015 –

A favorite coffee house  of mine has now turned to the dark side.. One of my last visits I  noticed this large screen tv on showing some news channels that distracted with both the blueish video and even the sound was turned on.  I don’t think anybody was even watching or listening to it but anyone coming to the coffee house and restaurants  would have to tune it out.

So Media free dining goes beyond restaurants.. it also applies to Coffee houses and other places where you get together with friends and family for food, drinks and conversation.
